Sardasht Osman Commemorated in Glasgow on 15th Anniversary of Assassination
Glasgow, May 5, 2025 — Kurdish activists in Glasgow held a rally today marking 15 years since the assassination of journalist Sardasht Osman. The event, organized by diaspora groups including Dakok, honored Osman’s legacy and condemned ongoing repression in the Kurdistan Region.
Sardasht was abducted in front of Salahaddin University in 2010 and later found murdered in Mosul. Despite public outcry, no one has been held accountable. Attendees blamed the ruling KDP and Barzani family, calling his death a symbol of the collapse of free speech.
“Sardasht’s voice still echoes in our struggle,” said one speaker. The event concluded with a call for justice and press freedom in Kurdistan.
