Balen Jabar Condemns Injustice as Iraqi Official Caught Observing Kurdish Protest
On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, Kurdish activist Balen Jabar, a Kurdish activist, stood among demonstrators outside the Iraqi Consulate in Manchester in protest of the ongoing salary crisis facing public servants in the Kurdistan Region.
“The injustice surrounding salaries is a result of the corrupt deals between Barzani and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan,” Jabar said, accusing both parties of failing to protect the rights and livelihoods of Kurdish citizens.
But beyond the passionate speeches and protest signs, something unexpected caught the attention of Kurdfile Media: a member of the Iraqi Consulate was visibly present and observing the protest from a distance caught on video by demonstrators.
The footage, now circulating among activists, raises serious questions about the consulate’s silent presence. Jabar emphasized, “Their government may not speak, but their eyes were on us. They know what’s happening and yet, they do nothing.”
