Alarming Claims of Weapon Misuse and Law Enforcement Failures in Kurdistan
Hama Haji Mahmud, military official and leader of the Social Democratic Party in Kurdistan, has raised serious concerns about systemic failures in the region. He revealed that 99% of violent crimes are committed using registered weapons, with investigations often pointing to perpetrators backed by military or political entities.
Hama also criticized the police in Kurdistan, describing them as “powerless†and unable to uphold the law, leaving citizens vulnerable and justice out of reach. These claims expose a troubling culture of impunity and weakened institutions.
Urgent reforms are essential to address these issues, restore public trust, and ensure accountability before the situation worsens.
