Poisonous Smoke from Khabat Power Plant
The Khabat power plant, built by a Turkish company between the Khabat and Rzgari districts, is emitting toxic smoke due to a lack of proper filtration. The pollution has turned the surrounding area into a health hazard. Despite this, the electricity generated is sold to Mosul, leaving local residents to suffer the environmental consequences while being deprived of the energy they desperately need. Kurdistan remains plagued by corruption, and the people have little hope that the situation will improve.
