A Director General Bestows Party Awards within His Department

Nawzad Kamil also known as Nawzad Sheikh Kamil the Director General of Trade for the Kurdistan Region, has transformed his office into a sanctuary for the Barzani Caliphate. He is systematically distributing party accolades and letters of appreciation, adorned with the yellow KDP logo, to staff and directors within a public government building.

It is incomprehensible under which law or regulation Kamil has authorised such partisan activity. How is it permissible for a government department to engage in overt party activities without any attempt at discretion? How can one serve as a Director General of a government while acting so transparently as an agent for a single political party?

While this style of governance was conducted covertly during Nechirvan Barzani’s cabinet, the Masrour cabinet has discarded all pretences of shame or subtlety. They are now explicitly stating: We work solely for the KDP; only the KDP shall operate; and we shall control every joint of the governing body. If this pleases you, accept it; if not, do your worst.

Bear in mind, this is a civilian department. In the military and security sectors, one must virtually undergo a DNA test to prove a willingness to commit fratricide or patricide on their behalf; otherwise, employment is denied.

In a region where the Parliament is rendered worthless, where judges know only how to say Yes, my Lord and I am your sacrifice, where Directors General are sycophants, and where staff are merely party cadres what hope for progress can possibly remain?
