In the VAR Room, Masrour Triumphed Over Nechirvan
Opinion | Diyar Harki – Founder of KurdFile
In my view, within the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), there are two fierce factions. In the ninth cabinet, Masrour Barzani clipped the wings of Nechirvan Barzani, even though Nechirvan’s cadres are, in my opinion, better and more experienced than those of Masrour.
For me, it does not matter who has emerged, who will emerge, who will become President of the Republic, or who will become Second Deputy of Parliament. What matters, in my opinion, is monitoring these positions — which many see as fraudulent — to determine what real service they provide to the people of the Kurdistan Region.
I believe President Abdul Latif Rashid accomplished nothing except enriching himself. Likewise, in my view, Shakhawan Abdullah only managed to make his mansion larger.
As for Atrushi, it is my opinion that he is not expected to do anything meaningful for Kurdish society; rather, he will likely benefit from the political rewards of Baghdad.
Ultimately, in my view, personalities and titles are secondary — what truly matters is whether those in power serve the Kurdish people or merely serve themselves.
