Turkish Forces Conduct House-to-House Searches in Amedi Amid Government Silence

Turkish forces have occupied the streets of Amedi, conducting house-to-house searches, as revealed by former KRG parliament member Ali Hama Salih, raising concerns over the Kurdistan Regional Government’s silence on the issue.

Kurdfile reports that Turkish forces have intensified their presence in the Amedi area, conducting invasive house-to-house searches. This information comes from a video released by Ali Hama Salih, a former member of the Kurdistan  parliament, which shows Turkish forces patrolling the streets of Amedi with armed trucks.

Ali Hama Salih criticized the KRG and Iraqi authorities for their “dangerous silence” regarding these Turkish incursions. He emphasized that the lack of response from the KRG and Iraqi authorities is alarming and suggests a concerning level of complacency or complicity in the face of foreign military operations within their territory.

Kurdfile further reports that thousands of Turkish fighters have been brought into the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG) in the past two weeks. This significant increase in Turkish military presence has raised fears among local residents and human rights activists, who are calling for immediate action and transparency from the KRG and Iraqi governments.

The presence of Turkish forces in the region has been a contentious issue, with frequent reports of clashes and military operations causing disruption and fear among the local population. The recent house-to-house searches have only heightened these concerns, as residents worry about their safety and the violation of their privacy and rights.

The international community has yet to respond to these developments, but the growing unrest in Amedi and other parts of the Kurdistan Region highlights the urgent need for diplomatic intervention and a reassessment of foreign military involvement in the area.
