The Hypocrisy of the CASANOVA’S Authorities in Kurdish Society

Kurdish society is rife with hypocrisy and lies in the actions and speech of its politicians.  With the exception of a conscious elite and a few courageous individuals, most of us do not dare to speak openly and freely for fear of reprisal.

The hereditary Kurdish politicians and tribal leaders have failed not only politically but also in terms of social behavior and gender discrimination.

Men have always been prominent in the media and at political and social events, while women are largely absent from these opportunities. Yet, we see these fortunate heirs readily embracing other people’s wives and daughters under the guise of “advisor to the president,” “representatives of women’s organizations,” or by showcasing women in the media, nightclubs, and modern villages and cities.

These hypocritical behaviors—this (selective) regard for their own women while viewing women outside their tribe as commodities—should be addressed. People should be made aware that this issue is an insult to an important segment of humanity.

An example of this hypocrisy is the martyrdom of Sardasht Osman, who dreamed of Masoud Barzani’s daughter and fell in love with her, for which he was killed! Even speaking of love for their women is punishable by death. How can they allow the sisters, mothers, and daughters of their society to be viewed as commodities and subjected to their base desires, as we hear every day? Sardasht’s only mistake was that he wanted to resolve many of his family’s problems by loving a woman from a powerful political family, attempting to reconcile the women of those families with the rest of society.

Although some believe that this boundary should not be changed, crossed, or discussed because it is a red line and an attack on the honor and sanctity of the tribe, these individuals have, in fact, become public figures. Is it logical, just, and loyal to subject other people’s women to this cruel sphere of life and exploit them, while someone who merely dreams or writes about a woman from their family, without any other offense, is sentenced to death?

This backward and tribal mindset has a negative impact on the moral education of society. It suggests that these tribal politicians want to convey the message that:

“We are very different from you in terms of social status and high standard of living, so you should not expect to see our women mixing with your culture and behavior!”

It’s as if the Sheikh still believes that daughters should not be given to the poor because they are chosen by God and should be served, not be servants!

Or perhaps they are telling us that you can only see our men as presidents, leaders, and businessmen from a distance, or in the media’s eye, or in the arms of beauties in Dubai, Cyprus, and Europe. You should be content with the honor of being slaves and servants and enjoy seeing these images in your imagination!
