Pension Fraud: Women Listed as Retired Brigadiers and Ministers Without Meeting Age Requirements

Sadiq Osman, spokesman for the Kurdistan Pensioners Union, reveals shocking details about the Kurdistan Regional Government’s pension list, exposing illegal and unfair recruitment practices.

Kurdfile reports that Sadiq Osman, the spokesperson for the Kurdistan Pensioners Union, has brought to light a significant pension fraud within the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). According to Osman, there are women listed as retired military brigadiers or ministers who have not yet reached the required retirement age. This revelation highlights the rampant corruption and nepotism within the KRG’s pension system.

“The military case and unfair recruitment is one of the most dangerous issues within the Kurdish ruling authorities in South Kurdistan,” Osman stated. He pointed out that there are currently about half a million armed individuals in the region. Many of these individuals are on the payroll without performing any actual duties, contributing to a massive financial burden on the government’s resources.

Kurdfile has also uncovered that thousands of these supposed retirees are receiving pensions without having ever served in their listed positions. This fraudulent activity underscores the deep-rooted corruption within the KRG, where political connections and favoritism take precedence over merit and legality.

The Kurdistan Region’s financial stability is severely impacted by these practices. The unjust allocation of pensions and military ranks not only drains the region’s resources but also demoralizes those who have genuinely served and earned their retirement benefits.

As these revelations come to light, the call for reform and transparency within the KRG grows louder. The public demands accountability and an end to the exploitation of government funds for personal and political gain.
