UK Kurdish Activists Protest Unresolved Murder of Hersh Omer in Koya Demonstration
Kurdish activists in the UK organized protests in Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, and Glasgow to demand justice for Hersh Omer, a Kurdish activist killed during a demonstration in Koya in December 2017. The events were coordinated by the Dakok Organization, with participants condemning the lack of accountability in the case.
In a statement to Kurdfile Media, Shorash Omer, Hersh’s brother, expressed frustration, revealing that the perpetrators remain free and have yet to face prosecution. The protests highlighted ongoing concerns about impunity and the need for action to address the murder of Hersh Omer and similar cases.
This year marks the seventh anniversary of the unresolved case, which continues to resonate among Kurdish communities worldwide.
