Veteran Peshmerga Sayed Abdullah Kardzi Resigns from KDP

Sayed Abdullah Kardzi, a veteran Peshmerga who dedicated his life to the Kurdish cause, has resigned from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) amid growing threats to his safety. Kardzi, who has served the party since he was 16, took the bold step on the eve of the September Revolution anniversary, citing “injustice” and his inability to defend even his “simplest rights” under the current political leadership.

Kurdfile reports that since his resignation, Kardzi’s life is in grave danger. Sources indicate that party officials are pressuring him to regret and retract his decision, warning that if he doesn’t, his life may be at risk. According to insiders, Kardzi is under threat of being eliminated—whether in a staged “accident” or through other sinister means in the near future. The KDP is fearful that Kardzi, with his loyal following, could shift his support to another party in the upcoming elections, posing a threat to their influence.

In his resignation, Kardzi spoke openly about the struggles he endured over decades for his nation, stating that the hardships of war and survival “did not disappoint us as much as the injustice of today.” After remaining silent on many issues out of respect for his long history with the party, he declared, “Silence is an insult to my struggle and paves the way for the oppression of every veteran.”

Now, Kardzi faces a dangerous reality where his life may be in jeopardy for speaking out against the party. He has declared that, although he no longer belongs to any political party, he remains a Peshmerga and will continue to defend Kurdistan—but without the backing of the KDP, he stands alone against powerful forces.

Kurdfile stresses that Kardzi’s safety is now a critical concern, with the risk of an “accident” or other orchestrated threats looming. The veteran Peshmerga’s decision to speak out could cost him dearly in a political climate that has shown little tolerance for dissent.
