Iraqi President Issues Diplomatic Passports to Family Members
Iraqi President Prioritizes Passports for Relatives Over National Concerns, Says Journalist
Journalist Mahmoud Yasin Kurdi criticized Iraqi President Abdullatif Mohammed Jamal Rashid for prioritizing personal demands over pressing national issues.
According to a document obtained by Kurdi, the president has requested the issuance of diplomatic passports for nine individuals, including his wife, sister, grandchildren, another son, and a girl reportedly linked to a Kurdish artist. The passports are to be valid for four years.
Kurdi noted that instead of addressing critical matters such as ensuring salaries for the people, the president appears focused on securing benefits for his relatives. The use of rank and position for personal gain remains a persistent issue in Iraq, with accountability being rare.
