Barzani’s Bread: A Cheap Bribe for the Stolen Wealth of a Nation

H, Diyar

The KDP’s latest stunt ordered by their president Masoud Barzani distributing one million loaves of bread in Halabja and Sharazoor is nothing more than a calculated insult to the intelligence of the Kurdish people. This is not generosity. This is not governance. This is a distraction a desperate attempt to whitewash decades of looting with a few crumbs thrown to the people they have systematically impoverished.

Let’s do the math: Eight loaves of bread cost 1,000 dinars. So, the total cost of this so-called “aid” is 125 million dinars a laughable amount when compared to the billions that the Barzani family and their inner circle have siphoned off through corruption, smuggling, and mafia-style economic policies. If Barzani really cared about the people, he would return what he and his cronies have stolen, not hand out scraps like a feudal lord pretending to be charitable.

Meanwhile, truck drivers at the KDP-controlled borders are being robbed blind by a fake “inspection” scheme run by New Standard Company. Imagine this: Drivers pay millions in made-up fees just to pass through checkpoints where there is no actual testing, no oversight, and no accountability. If they don’t pay, their goods are held hostage. And yet, Barzani wants to be seen as a savior for handing out a few loaves of bread?

Let’s be clear: This is not aid. This is an insult. The money they use for these staged acts of “charity” was already stolen from the people in the first place. The KDP treats Kurdistan like its personal business empire, enslaving workers, traders, and citizens while acting like benevolent rulers for giving back a fraction of what they have taken.

This bread is not a donation. It is a symbol of their theft, their corruption, and their absolute disregard for the dignity of the Kurdish people.
